Black History Month – Caribbean Lunch

BLACK HISTORY MONTH LUNCHEON

WHAT IS IT?

Join us on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, as we kick off Black History Month with our annual luncheon! Enjoy an authentic Caribbean meal prepared by Tasty Touch, take in the sounds of a live steelpan music performance by Fatima Wilson, experience a traditional Burundian drum performance by Remesha Drums, and be inspired by a spoken word performance by Aliyah TruthHosted by Miss Trish, the event will also feature stories and lessons on Canadian Black history from artist and educator Omari Newton.

To make our event more accessible to young families, we will also have a craft corner, face painter, and special workshop to entertain the little ones.

Doors open at 11:00AM.

Our mission

Overture with the Arts (OWTA) is a non-profit organization based in Montreal, offering education in music, dance, drama and vocal training. Our free and low-cost programs enable young people to pursue their passion in the performing arts. OWTA helps kids find a creative outlet for self-expression and builds confidence and poise. Since 2009 approximately 85,000 youth have benefitted from our programs and school tours.
