Singing Through Time

And we’re off! February is Black History Month and there is no better way to celebrate than with Overture With the Arts. The 2013 Songs of Freedom school tour has launched and we are now touring Montreal’s schools to spread the joy and entertainment of music. There are 15 performances on our schedule this year, including Montreal high schools, John Abbott College and even a show in Toronto at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. Performer Jonathan Emile is back to headline, with his smooth vocals and engaging musical interludes. See the full schedule for dates and locations. “This year’s presentation is fun, exciting, it gets people singing along, feeling the beat,” says Jonathan Emile. “We look back at how black music has influenced culture, politics and modern society. Students really get into it as the music is something they can relate to.”
